Ultrasonic ranging module HC-SR04 provides 2cm - 400cm non-contact distance measurement function, the ranging accuracy can reach up to 3mm. The modules includes ultrasonic transmitters, receiver and control circuit.

The basic principle of work:

  • The module should be triggered by pulling Trig pin high for at least 10uS.

  • The Module automatically sends eight 40 kHz pulses and detect whether there is a echo back after bouncing off any obstacle in front of it.

  • If their is an echo back, the module pulls up the echo line high for a duration it takes for the waves to go to the obstacle and return. Test distance = (high level time×velocity of sound /2)
